Swing Bed

Swing bed is a transitional unit for patients that no longer require Acute care, but aren't quite ready to return to their home. Genoa Medical Facilities Swing Bed Program is a Medicare approved skilled rehabilitation service offered out of the hospital side of our facility. We offer skilled nursing service, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology services under the Swing Bed program. Our goal is to get you home as soon as possible.

Our swing bed accommodations offer private rooms in a hospital setting. These rooms are designed to meet the functional and social needs of our patients. Patients enjoy private dining and their own space to host visitors during their stay. Each room has its own restroom, television with full cable access, wireless internet access, telephone and heating/cooling unit. There is a shower or walk-in jetted tub for bathing. These rooms are strategically located to provide a quiet, restful environment.

Genoa Medical Facilities prides itself in individualized quality care. Our staffing ratio averages one nurse to every 2.4 patients. Activities are offered in conjunction with our Long Term Care or Assisted Living facilities. We enjoy the ability to give time and quality care to our patients.

Patients must qualify under federal regulations to participate in our Swing Bed Program. Regulations state that you must have had a three night acute care stay in any hospital and must be in need of a skilled service to regain previous functioning levels. Many patients stay following an illness to regain strength and prior level of functioning, orthopedic surgery for extended inpatient therapy, or disease such as a stroke for rehabilitation purposes. There are many reasons that a person may qualify for swing bed care.

Genoa Medical Facilities philosophy of care for patients participating in the program includes, but are not limited to:

Patient assistance designed to provide comfort and support.
Patent and or family education to assist patients in attaining safe independent functioning.
Emotional and spiritual support for the patient.
Planning of care to coordinate the patient's medical regimen, nursing care, rehabilitative services and goals.
